the Brethren appointed by our sister Churches with some other Brethern were [?] to take with us to assist in settling a difficulty between the Church [?] Brother [Wm?] Echols Brother Meeks was chosen Moderate - the following [bill?] of charges against Brother Echols was drawn up by Alexander [Jeffress?] Wm. Pettey and [?] [?] for being [?] [?] to go to Tennessee to kidnap or take a negro in any way he could get him 2nd for [dietating?] an [advertisement?] and [undersauring?] to injure the reputation of a man by the Testimony of a [llane?] - 3rd signing a certificate for [Drurn?] [kennedss?] - 5th for gamblign - 6th for saying [abrect?] that Brother [Puphrec?] had told a lie - 7th for attacking brother [Sefrec?] on the road the above bill of [charees?] was [?] and [sorted?] [are?] by the Church in [?] with Brethren from the following Churches [?] Flint River- Mountain fork - [Salon?]. Bethany and Bethel of [Telint?] –

After an investigation of the [farementioned?] charges Brother Wm. Echols was by a majority acquitted of all of them except two Drunkenness and gambling- upon which he acknowledged that some years ago and [?] [?] to the charges being exhibited he had drank to much but had not been dealt with had [?] [?] which acknowledgement was received by the Church for gambling upon which he acknowledged that nearly a year ago he inadvertently said he would but [but?] he had no intention to win or lose and he was aquited.

2nd the Church took up an Alligation against B Wm. Echols and after an investigation of the charge the question was taken whether the church approbated the conduct of Brother Echols toward Brother John Smith [?] the Church decided in the negative – the Church Claimed an acknowledgement but not an acknowledgement satisfactory to the Church he did not give therefore he is excluded from the Church

3rd Granted a letter of dismission to sister Judeth. A., Echols

Chose Brother Thos Chiles Moderator - then called for references the case of sister Logan and sister Echols was taken up and after an investigation of the [?] a reconciliation took place and the sisters was given the right hand of fellowship and they resumed their seats

After preaching, the church met in conference, 1st called Brother Manning to the oratorship 2nd Adoptee as a stand in and general [?] of decorum that the fellowship of church he first - inquire into 3rd Sister Echols sates that she had been long aggrived with the decision of the church relation to dealing with her husband as well as herself for having given her hand for a reconciliation and therefore has not filled her seat in the house of GOd, her case was taken ip and a committee [?] members, three males and two females, [?] Brethren Petty Moses Cavett and [? [?] together with sisters Hyman and Kelly appointed to visit and LAbour with her, and [?] at the next meeting.

3rd [Reeved?] and took up the report of the committee who visited and laboured with Sister Echols invitation to her grievance with the church, who [uport?] that their labors more in vain and her greivance continuing the same. The church met in conference, after preaching and organized by appointed Brother Manning to the moderatorship. 1st Enquired for the fellowship of the church and find that nothing has transpired as a proper subject of church discipline

2nd Took up the reference of sister Echols who states that she is willing to resume her seat in the church and endeavors for the present to bear her own burden.

2nd Opened a door for the reception of members and received by letter Bro. Richard J. Day, sister Lucinda Day, brother John A. day, sister Martha Ann Day and a coloured sister named Fanney servant of Richard J. Day: after which William Echols an excluded member rose and requests to the church to make out the items of his improper conduct, in writing, towards Bro. John Smith, for which he was excluded upon a general charge without specification so that he may (if possible) be enabled to give satisfaction and be [questioned?] whereupon a committee of seven brethren, [?] Richard Cavell, Petty, Logan, Penny, Willis, Taylor and [Samelidge?] were appointed to make out items of said alleged improper conduct and report them at the next conference.

3rd Received and took up the [?] of the committee appointed at the last conference meeting to enquire for the specific items of a general vharge against William Echols, which report is as follows [?].

The committee to whom was [ufored?] the case of William Echols, as [questing?] of the church to make out the specific items embraced in general charge of improper conduct towards Br. John Smith and for which he was excluded, after meeting the second time and making diligent enquiry, state, [?] [?] to the lapse of time and its a p?] cause [?] they have been unable to make out any specific items for report = John Penney chairman

Therefore, unsolved by the church, that she will not [preserve?] the subject any further not withstanding she views with [?] [?] that she had [?] a charge against the said Echols, without any specific item or items of the same, and is fully [empraned?] that it [?] to the dishonor of the church and to the injury of the cause of religion in the immediate neighborhood. As a further reason, she further [asolves?], that she views with much sorrow the unchirstian [apportment?] of the said Echols since his exclusion from the church and finally resolves that she will not restore him to the privileges of the church untill he shall give evidence of true [emtrition?] of soul and a [?] sorrow for sin.

After preaching the church met in conference, called bro. J. M. Willis to the moderatorship. 1st. Inquired for the fellowship of the church where upon the following charges were exhibited by Sister Sarah Echols against Bro. William Mannings Item 1st For preaching contrary to the word of God 2nd For calling a man of the world to move her [?] a lian. 3rd For saying that her has [?] had made false statements in saying he [?] and that sister Srah Martin should have said that. W. M. Cray was in New-[markiz?] the day he struck John Echols whom her husband did hear that sister Sarah Martin died say so 4th For saying her husband seen drunk in Huntsville some two or three months [?] all which [?] were examined and investigated and whom taking the voices of the church, were pronounced entirely unfounded and frivolous in substance unanimously (Also the following [?] was presented and [?] [?] Bro. John Ford by sister Srah Echols, viz. For accusing her husband of deviating from a contract made with him, which is pronounced also the be frivolous in substance and he is entirely exonerated from any improper [discription?] making the statement contained in the change.

After divine service the Church met in conference and finding itself in peace and order agreed to address a second letter by its clerk to sister Echols, presuming the first had miscarried, asking of her, her [wishes?] relative to a letter of all mission and wait untill the May meeting for an answer - Dismissed by letter our beloved [Jastor?] & [?] William Manning and his were ister Mary Manning dismissed in order.

After divine service the church convened in conference 1st Inquire for the fellowship of the church and upon inquiry learn it is at peace 2 Opened a door for the reception of members [n?] more

3rd Took up the reference relative to sister Echols and believing her to have acted derogatory to gospel order in [moving?] out of the bound of the church [?] asking for a letter of dismission, and also forgiving the church no direct satisfaction after having been twice written to [ou?] that subject, she is declared to be no longer a member in fellowship

Received a written communication from William and Sarah Echols making acknowledgements for transgressions for which they have been barred the fellowship of the church and contended to continue their cases for reference untill the December conference, and that a letter be written to them making a statement of the reasons why the church cannot [get?] [whom?] their cases at this time. [Dismissed?] by letter Bro. John Wright- and Mary [?]. Wright his wife and also bro. John S. Logan, his wife. Polly W. Logan together with sister [Catherine?] [?], also Charles a coloured brother belonging to John P. Logan and [?] in order by prayer.

The church met after divine service, took up the reference from the October meetings [?] to William and Sarah Echols, having accuired a communication from the Church at [ohoma?] advising us that the difficulty had been settled between them and Bro. Logan restored [?] to fellowship and granted them a letter of Dismission appointed the third sunday [?] particularly forth Benefit of the coloured members in order to ascertain their standings and [?] any applicants also agreed to bear in mind the propriety of [?] a macon at the next conference.
