== Book 9, page 378 == Transcribed (to the best of my ability): {{Quote| 378 February Court 1775 This Indenture made this sixteenth Day of February in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred & seventy five Between John Echols of the County of Halifax of the one part & George Watkins of the county aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the John Echols for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and sixty five pounds current money of Virginia the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath grant bargained sold aliened Released and confirmed by these presents for himself and his heirs doth grant Bargain Sell aline Release and confirm unto the George his heirs and assigns forever one certain track of land containing two hundred & twenty acres it being part of a tract of land granted to Richd Echols by Pattent Baring Date the tenth Day of Septr one thousand seven hundred & Fifty five & convey'd to John Echols By a deed from Richd Echols situate lying and being in the county aforesaid & on the North Side of Banister River & Both Sides of Turable Creek & Bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at pointers on the East Side of Turable creek thence a new line East of 2 poles to a Red Oakon an old line thence on the line 2 Degrees West 36 poles crossing a Branch to a corner pine thence South 85 Degrees East 82 poles to a corner pine thence South 10 degrees East crossing the Road and Branch 100 poles to the Branch which Lacys Land joins thence Down the Branch as it meanders to Banister River thence up the River as it meanders crossing the mouth of Turable Creek to a corner white oak thence on the old line North 5 Degrees West 110 poles to a Branch on the west side of Turable Creek thence down the Branch as it meanders & crossing the creek to the beginning Together with all houses gardens orchards fences woods under woods waters & water courses standing growing and being and being with all profits comodities & also the reversion and reversions remainder & remainders thereoff Every part & parcel thereoff to have & to hold the Tract of land with all singular the appurtenances unto the George Watkins to the proper use Behoof of him the George Watkins and his heirs and assigns for ever the John Echols for himself & his heirs the Land and premises with }} Continuing to the next page: {{Quote| 379 February Court 1775 }} Source: [https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS4V-Y3MC-N?view=fullText&keywords=John%20Echols&lang=en&groupId=M9NT-NTR FamilySearch]
