== A27, March Court 1778 == Transcription (to the best of my ability): {{Quote| This Indenture made this eighteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight. Between William Jones of Halifax County of the one part and John Chappel of the County of Amelia of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Jones for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and sixty two pounds ten shillings current Money of Virginia the receipts thereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold alienated released and confirming and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell alien release and confirm unto the said John Chappell all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Halifax aforesaid containing by estimation one hundred and fifty seven acres more or less it part of a greater quantity and bounded as followeth, to cert begining at certain Rock in the branch below Mrs. Parkers plantation, thence by a line of mark'd trees to the corner in a branch upon pointers, thence by a line of mark'd trees to a corner on the creek below Hardienich's plantation upon Spanish Oak, thence down the said creek as it meanders to the mouth of the Br. Branch that it begun in thence up the said branch as it meanders to the begining and all houses orchards fences trees woods ways water and waters ~*~*~*~*~ profits commodities advantages Hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the said tract of land belonging or in any wise appertaining and also the Reversion and Reventions Remainder and Remainders Rents and services of the said premises hereby granted and of every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances and also all the Estate right title claim or demand whatsoever either in Equity on in Law of him the said William Jones and his Heirs of in and to the said premises on any part or parcel thereof with the appurtenances to have and to hold the said ~ hundred and fifty seven Acres of Land and premises above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof with the appurtenances unto the said John Chappell his Heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behold of the said John Chappell his Heirs and assigns forever and the said William Jones for himself and his Heirs doth covenant grant and agree to and with the said John Chappell his Heirs and assigns by these presents that he the said William Jones the said tract or parcel of Land and premises hereby granted and sold and every part and parcell thereof with the appurtenances unto the said John Chappell his and assigns against him the said William Jones and his Heirs and ~*~ all and every other person and persons shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof the said William Jones hath to these presents set his hand and afixed his seal the day and year above written. ~ William Jones (seal) seal'd and deliver'd In presence of John Echols, Lucy Anah Echols, Prudence Echols At a court held for Halfix County the 19th day of March 1778.
