Received land via patent Library of Virginia (need to read and transcribe) as referenced (and correctly referenced by patent date) upon sale from his son (John Echols) to Watkins in Deed Book, Halifax County#Book 9, page 378.
He may have also patented other tracts of land. The Library of Virginia has several records for a "Richard Echols" (and similar spelling) in the area and time period.
