Obe Satterwhite Will
In the same of God amen I Obe Satterwhite of the County of Chambers and State of Alabama of Sound disposing mind & memory and knowing and believing it is appropriate for man to die do dispose of my worldly effects & Estate as follows first of all I commend my soul to God who gave it & my body to be buried in a Christian like manner.
Item I give to my beloved wife Polly Satterwhite the use & control of all my Estate after my just debts are paid, both Real & personal consisting of my land & plantation whereon we now live say four hundred & sixty acres and seven slaves to wit Nole a woman Joe a yellow man & for a black boy Simon a boy Harriete a Girl, Henry a bot, and Morse a boy & their increase together with all my household & kitchen furniture stocks of every description with the rest residue of my Estate & Effects whatever to her my said wife Polly Satterwhite for and during her natural life time and at her Death it is my will and I do give & direct that the whole of the aforesaid Estate both real and personal be Equally divided between my four children here after named Shars? Thiar? alike in the following manner one fourth to Nancy Daniel wife of John Daniel & her children forever. one fourth to Martha Echols wife of Samuel Echols and her children for ever, one fourth to Lucy Echols wife of John Echols and her children for-ever- and the remaining fourth to my son John Satterwhite & his children for-ever-
Item, Lastly I do nominate, constitute and appoint- my wife Polly Satterwhite Executrix and my son John Satterwhite Executor of this my last- will and Testament Reverting all former wills by me made Ratifying & declaring This to be my last- In Testimony where I Obe Satterwhite do here write set my hand and seal this 17th May A. D. 1833

Personally came into open Court- A L Robinson and [M?] [W?] Carlisle two of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing will who being duly sworn desposeth and saith that- Oba Satterwhite the testator above named Signed Sealed and deliverence The foregoing instrument- in their presence and in the presence of J B Robinson the other subscribing witness on the day the same bears date that- they severally subscribed Their names to the same in the presence of the Testator and at his special Request- and that- according to their best impression the said Testator at the Time of executing the same was of sound and disposing mind and memory

Agreement in the Obed Satterwhite estate
State of Alabama

Know all men by these presents that we Mary Satterwhitem widow and relict of Obed Satterwhite deceased, John Satterwhite, Nancy Daniel wife of John Daniel, Lucy Echols wife of John W Echols, and Martha Echols wife of Samuel Echols, distributes, and him at law of said deceased, are bound unto each other in the penal sum of two thousand five hundred Dollars for the payment of which well and truly to be made we bind our and each of our heirs Executors assign &c.
Whereas Mary Satterwhite relict & widow of Obed Satterwhite deceased having dissented from the will of said Deceased, we the legatees of said deceased, all being of lawful age "[e'e"?] over twenty one years of age, and wishing to wind up and close out the business of said estate to our best interest and advantage, and so believing agree upon the following terms of management, and distribution of said estate, viz: We agree in the first place to set aside said will, and sell all the property both real and personal, as soon as practictable to the highest bidder or in such other manner as we all may agree upon, and on such day of sale we further agree that the proceeds of said sale or sales, we will each divide equally between us, and share and share alike, and we also agree that the debts of said estate shall be paid rateably? by and between us, We also further agree that John Satterwhite before mentioned, nay act as our and each of our agent in such matter as we may agree upon, and that he shall have reasonable pay for his time and services, and bind ourselves to recognize his act in the premises.
Now should the aforenamed parties stand to and abide by this agreement in every respect, then this Bond to be null and void, But if any one should refuse to comply with this agreement, then as to him or her it has the full force and effect, and in the favor of those who have carried out this agreement. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals this the 2nd day of September 1857.
